Suffers season-ending injury Week 7
Miami head coach Manny Diaz said Monday that Harris (knee) will miss the remainder of the season, The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Hurricanes will now have to navigate the second half of their 2021 schedule without their top running back and top quarterback, as D'Eriq King (shoulder) underwent season-ending surgery last week. Diaz named Jaylan Knighton, Cody Brown and Thaddius Franklin as candidates to lead the Miami backfield the rest of the way, though Knighton is them most likely member of that group to serve as a true bell cow. Harris, a redshirt junior, will finish the campaign with 409 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 71 carries (5.8 YPC) to go with 119 yards and another score on 11 receptions. He suffered the right knee injury in Saturday's 45-42 loss to North Carolina.

2021 Fantasy Outlook
Harris reportedly flirted with the NFL Draft before deciding to return to Miami, where he was the team-leading rusher in 2020, finishing with 643 yards and 10 touchdowns on 126 carries. The ‘Canes split carries between Harris, Don Chaney and Jaylan Knighton, in addition to quarterback D’Eriq King, all of whom are back in Coral Gables along with two talented freshmen. Harris openly commented that the split carries did no one any favors, as no back got into a groove with regular touches on a per game basis, and offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee seems amenable to adjusting that strategy. The question remains whether that lead back will be a weekly thing, or a season-long thing. Harris’ size probably makes him the favorite to lead the team in rushing scores, but Knighton is far more explosive. It’s worth taking a shot on either in the later rounds of your draft, but otherwise, wait and see if someone emerges.
