Minnesota relied on the running game more than any other Power 5 offense last season. As a result, Williams was one of three Minnesota running backs to eclipse the century mark for single-game rushing yards in the team’s run-dominant offensive scheme last season. The Golden Gophers stuck to the running game through thick and thin and cycled through a revolving class of primary ball carriers due to multiple injuries at the position. Williams was one of three Minnesota running backs to suffer a season-ending injury, which limited the senior rusher’s overall production during the 2021 season.
