Declares for 2022 NFL Draft
January 7, 2022
Koback has announced that he has declared for the 2022 NFL draft.
ANALYSIS
Koback finished out a phenomenal junior season at Toledo, totaling 1,400 yards and 15 touchdowns on 208 carries (6.7 yards per carry), in addition to 30 catches for 334 yards and three touchdowns. The 6-foot running back compiled 4,680 all-purpose yards in his four years with Toledo and his size combined with his receiving ability should be enticing for NFL teams.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2019
Koback is an interesting buy-low candidate as he’s coming off his worst season in terms of efficiency (4.24 YPC) but he also averaged a career-high in carries (20.5 ATT/G) and showed pass-catching ability that he hadn’t previously. He caught 24 of 31 targets for 228 yards and two touchdowns after catching just 12 passes for 92 yards in his previous two years. If that pass-catching role and 51 percent rushing share carry over to 2021, Koback has the chance to be a huge steal in drafts where he falls based off of one season of diminished efficiency.
Koback is the lead dog in a dangerous Toledo rushing attack that also features Shakif Seymour. The 6-0, 205-pound Koback burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2018 with 14 rushing touchdowns and he backed it up in 2019 with 1,187 yards and 12 rushing scores. Though Seymour will still command plenty of carries, Koback has a very real chance at providing 200 carries worth of high-efficiency touches as he's averaged 6.0 YPC over 348 career totes. His lone drawback is his lack ofreceiving production (10 career receptions), but that can be overlooked when Koback is finding the end zone and racking up yardage at exceptional rates.
Koback entered the year buried on the depth chart but managed to work his way into a lead role over some more experienced players and took advantage of the opportunity. His 14 rushing touchdowns tied for second among MAC running backs and his 5.99 YPC ranked fifth in the conference. Art Thompkins is gone, which leaves one less roadblock for Koback to contend with for carries. Koback will cede work to Shakif Seymour but is still expected to have the starting job for a Toledo offense that stands to be one of the best in the conference and perhaps the nation.
