Thomas, who started at running back in Auburn's season opener against Louisville in 2015, ultimately lost the job after suffering an ankle injury in that contest, and ended up finishing the year with just 261 yards and one touchdown. With his spot on the depth chart unlikely to change much in 2016, Thomas ultimately chose to leave the program. Since Jacksonville State is an FCS program, Thomas will be eligible to play immediately.
