Knee
December 28, 2015
Howard will forego his senior season and enter the 2016 NFL Draft, Brett McMurphy of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The junior, a transfer from UAB, finished the regular season with 1,213 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 196 attempts to go with 11 receptions for 106 yards and a score. Howard battled injuries near the end of the season but still became the 11th Indiana back to top 1,000 yards, despite being held out of Saturday's New Era Pinstripe Bowl loss to Duke due to a knee issue. Looking ahead to next season, the Hoosiers are expected to turn to Devine Redding as the No. 1 back.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2015
2014
Howard has big shoes to fill in 2015 after Tevin Coleman’s record-setting season a year ago. This will be Howard’s first season in a Hoosier uniform after his former school, UAB, disbanded its football program in December. Howard showed some serious ability at UAB in 2014, rushing for 1,587 yards and 13 touchdowns on a heavy 306 carry workload. Indications out of fall camp are that Howard should step in as the featured back right away and with Indiana’s dearth of receiving options, Howard figures to be in line for a very productive season.
As the backup last season, Howard finished with 881 yards (6.1 YPC) and two touchdowns, including 152 yards on just 23 carries (6.6 YPC) against the SEC defenses of LSU and Vanderbilt. With Darrin Reaves turning pro a year early this offseason, Howard could emerge as UAB's workhorse RB this year. He certainly has the build necessary to carry an offense at 6-1, 228. UAB hired a new coach in Bill Clark, formerly of Jacksonville State, and Clark should move UAB to a more run-heavy approach. Jacksonville State RB DaMarcus James totaled 1,477 yards (5.1 YPC) and 29 touchdowns on Clark's watch last year, so it would be disappointing if Howard didn't easily turn in a 1,000-yard, 10-touchdown season.
