Alabama: T.J. Yeldon To Enter 2015 NFL Draft
January 8, 2015
Yeldon will enter the 2015 NFL Draft, ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The junior will forego his final year of eligibility after rushing for 932 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, falling just short of his third consecutive 1,000-yard output. He was one of the better running backs in the SEC, but given the talent of the 2015 running back class, it's difficult to predict where Yeldon might hear his name called on draft night.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2012
Yeldon (6-2, 218) is one of the nation's most talented pure runners, possessing a unique blend of burst, balance and power, and likely will be one of college football's most efficient running backs for the third consecutive season. But Yeldon's fantasy value takes a slight hit because of Alabama's extremely deep backfield. Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake are talented enough to start for most teams. That means Yeldon has a shorter leash – he is rested earlier in blowouts and gets pulled faster if he makes mistakes. Still, an RB coming off a 1,235-yard, 14-touchdown season is valuable even if his production is a bit volatile.
If rankings were based solely on talent and game-to-game upside, Yeldon would probably be ranked in the top 10. He was extremely productive as a freshman last year, running for 1,108 yards (6.3 YPC) and 12 touchdowns while catching 11 passes for 131 yards and another touchdown. The reason Yeldon is ranked this low, though, is that the Crimson Tide has a great deal of talent at running back threatening Yeldon's workload, and Alabama's tendency to blow out opponents means Yeldon could play a half or less in a number of games this year. Kenyan Drake, Jalston Fowler and Derrick Henry are all major talents itching to get on the field, and Alabama's big point margins will give Nick Saban a reason to put Yeldon on the bench.
Yeldon is a true freshman who has been drawing rave reviews throughout the spring for his excellent practice performances, and even with the excellent duo of Eddie Lacy and Jalston Fowler ahead of him, Yeldon should carve out an immediate role with the Crimson Tide. Unfortunately for fantasy speculators, it's not likely that it will be big enough to make a significant fantasy impact in 2012.
