- It seems like too much has been made of the drought Alex Smith had throwing a TD pass to a wide receiver and it's bound to carry into the season. That being said, don't forget about Jeremy Maclin this season. He's being downgraded too much with his move from Philadelphia to Kansas City and the person to blame here could be Dwayne Bowe and not Smith. At a minimum Maclin should be seen as a flex option in most leagues with the likely ability to have nice WR No.2 stats.
- Melvin Gordon (ankle) and Roddy White (elbow) will miss their respective preseason games due to their injuries. Both are not considered to be serious and this is a case of teams exercising caution with their starters.
- Robert Griffin could play in the Redskins' third preseason game. After getting knocked out of Thursday's contest it appears Griffin could be back sooner than later. Despite struggling thus far, coach Jay Gruden stated that Griffin would only lose his starting job if the injury kept him out a significant amount of time. In other news, one sports website has Jay Gruden as the odds on favorite to be the first head coach to be fired this season.
- Rex Ryan reiterated that the Bills are hopeful to have LeSean McCoy (hamstring) back for Week 1. The Bills backfield has been decimated by injury as backup Fred Jackson is also banged up. It doesn't hurt to bump McCoy down a few spots if you haven't drafted yet as hamstring injuries tend to linger and he may not get a full workload to start the season even if he's back.
- Ryan Fitzpatrick looked good but not great in his start against the Falcons. He went 13-for-19 for 118 yards and more importantly did not turn over the ball. Brandon Marshall registered four catches for 62 to lead the receiving corps. Chris Ivory had a nice 33-yard touchdown scamper and probably more importantly caught all three passes thrown his way. He could be a nice sleeper this season if he get's the lion's share of carries and becomes more involved in the passing game.
- Tyler Lockett caught three passes for 42 yards in the Seahawks loss to the Chiefs. It was nice to see him be involved in the offense although it's notable that some of the receivers were out with injuries. Still, Lockett may be used more than just in the return game and would be an interesting receiver should anything happen to Doug Baldwin.
- Joseph Randle (oblique) returned to practice Friday. He took reps with the first team and his injury, while flared up, doesn't appear serious. He won't suit up for this weekend's game and will give way to Darren McFadden for first team carries. Even with the nagging injury, Randle still possesses more upside and is the more desirable back to own.
