I sure hope this isn't a trend.
I failed to cash in any of my 12 lineups yesterday, 10 of which had entry fees. All told, I invested $100 (two for $25, two for $10 and six for $5) and took back nothing, bringing my bankroll down to $1072.60 and dropping my record against the pros to 6-4. Am I just going "card dead," so to speak, and missing my straight and flush draws, or am I playing poorly, making avoidable mistakes?
I was dogged a couple times by bad luck - the last minute scratch of Clayton Kershaw cost me Friday and so did the potential rain in Washington yesterday where I used Chris Sale instead of Max Scherzer in a bunch of places - but I had Zack Greinke in more than half the Kershaw lineups and Scherzer only out-pointed Sale by little more than four points. In other words, maybe I would have had a min cash of $12.50 in one or two and a $50 cash in the $25 Grand Slam, but it wouldn't have changed the downward trajectory of my bankroll that much.
I'll see how the next couple weeks go, but for now I'll chalk the losing streak up to the normal volatility of DFS, especially when you mostly play tournaments.
