Lew's Clues - Why Tampa Wins the Cup

- Because Lew's Clues picked them to win the Cup at the start at the start of the second round of the NHL Playoffs. I picked Tampa to beat the Ducks albeit - but the Lightning just the same. I have only whiffed on one team up to the Stanley Cups Final and that was by one game when the Hawks defeated the Ducks in Game 7.  (Check out the May 5th article by clicking on Lew's Clues.)

- They have already beaten three "Original 6" teams - Detroit, Montreal, and the New York Rangers. Why stop there? The Lightning have not cake walked into the Final. Every team they beat this year had 100 or more points this season. They downed the first place Rangers, second place Habs, and sixth place Red Wings. The Blackhawks had 102 points this year while the Lightning had 108. It's tough to argue that Tampa didn't already beat the toughest defensive team in the league when defeating the President's Trophy Winner in New York.

- Because of Ben Bishop - the 6'7" goaltender has proven that he can rebound from a bad game. Big Ben has 3 shutouts in the playoffs - most of any playoff team's goalie and two more than Corey Crawford. I hear the critics shouting, "Bishop is inconsistent!!" Not so fast - He may throw up a random stinker - but then he has proven that he can refocus and rebound with a strong game - Three times with a shutout in this year's playoffs. "The Bishop" pulled this stunt against the mighty Rangers not once but twice! The second time was in Game 7 at New York - when are fans going to start giving this net-minder mad respect? Oh, after he wins the Cup? Fair enough.

- Tampa Bay's goal scoring ability keeps up with Chicago's fire power. What? Yes, the stats don't lie. Tampa Bay potted a whopping 262 goals this season while the Hawks netted 229. That is a significant difference for sure. Yes, the Blackhawks are averaging over 3.29 goals a game in the playoffs and the Lightning 2.75 but these are pretty darn close considering Tampa put numbers up against Lundqvist and Price.

- Finally, they will win because Lew's Clue's says they will win. I am sporting an 83.33 winning percentage on this year's Stanley Cup Playoff picks. Where would you put your money?
