Just a few things that caught my eye:
- Thank gawd most goalie jocks these days use a double-cup design. And that most pro goalies further protect the crown jewels by donning a third cup. That's probably why Ben Bishop was able to shake off the nut shot during warmups. Ouch.
- A goal and assist give Steven Stankos seven points in his last four games. Rick Nash has the same ... in 14 games. Just saying.
- Anton Stralman is the one that got away ... from the Leafs, Blue Jackets and Rangers. I agree with his coach -- he'll never get consideration for the Norris, but his D partner sure will. Some day soon, Victor Hedman will owe him a steak dinner and a sports car.
- The Rangers need a little bit of the Norwegian Hobbit. It's funny how the 6-4 Rick Nash needs the 5-7 Mats Zuccarello to create time and space for him to do his thing. Sometimes Robin is the bigger superhero than Batman himself.
- The Bolts owe the win to three guys -- Ben Bishop, Stralman and Hedman. Those three cleaned up the crap time and time again during a very sloppy first period. And during the lockdown in the third. Stud, stud and more stud.
- Marc Staal wore the goat horns for the Rangers, but he's not the only Ranger who couldn't keep up. The teams may match speed up front, but the Rangers' blue line -- as a whole -- sure can't handle it coming at them.
- What happened to the Rangers' hot power play? They went from 4-for-8 to 0-for-4 in a single game. Those four chances ALL came before the Bolts tickled the twine. Convert one and the story late Sunday night would have been very, very different.
- Can the Bolts convert at home? I guess we'll find out Tuesday. At worst, Friday.
