In this week's NBA Schedule Considerations article on the site, I highlighted two players that would be good sources of steals this week, Kyle Anderson for the Grizzlies and Mikal Bridges for the Suns. Both players have been pretty proficient in the category to begin with, each averaging 1.4 steals per game, and have four games this week. Moreover, they are starting to get more playing time for their respective teams and doing more with that time. Anderson has 14 steals over his last five games, a pace that would make him the league leader at 2.8 per game. Bridges has been no slouch in his own right, averaging 1.9 steals per game over an eight-game span where he's been getting 30+ minutes per game.
That leads to this week's quiz, testing to see how well you know the steals pool. I'll have a couple of questions for you - the first testing your knowledge strictly of the top steals guys. I'm playing around with the formatting here - hopefully this works getting just the players' last names.
The second quiz perhaps will be more helpful - it's the top steals guys who are also averaging fewer than 15 points per game. The reasoning here is that anyone that is scoring more than 15 points per game and is among the steals leaders is probably already owned. Maybe this will help you dig in the corners a little bit. Of course, there will be some crossover from the first list, but not as much as you'd think.
Over the next couple of weeks i'm going to try to focus on attacking categories within the schedule context, as I did with steals this week. I spent some time on blocks earlier, so I'll look to hit up assists and three-pointers next.
