Most training camp chatter concerns either injuries or premature hype, and Sunday's action was no different. Let's take a look at what's happening around the league.
Returning from injury:
- Marvin Jones got tangled up with a cornerback during red-zone drills Saturday, causing the receiver to remain down on the field while team trainers momentarily attended to his left leg. However, Jones was back in full pads Sunday, and both he and coach Matt Patricia have said that the veteran is fine going forward. Currently going off the board as WR25 in DRAFT best ball leagues, Jones seems underpriced after finishing the 2017 season as a top-10 fantasy wideout.
- It isn't clear if Delanie Walker's absence from Saturday's practice was related to an injury, but the tight end nonetheless assumed his usual role as Tennessee's No. 1 tight end Sunday.
- Falcons fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as Calvin Ridley was back on the field Sunday. The rookie had left Saturday's practice with an apparent leg injury, but his quick return to the fold suggests he isn't dealing with anything severe.
Nursing injuries:
- A number of notable Patriots players were tending to injuries Sunday. Absent were Mike Gillislee (undisclosed) and Malcolm Mitchell (knee), and it wasn't long until Jordan Matthews joined them in the medical tent with a right hamstring injury. All seem to be considered day-to-day, though.
- Over in Detroit, LeGarrette Blount couldn't finish practice due to an undisclosed injury. While the running back was able to walk off the field under his own power, this is definitely a situation to monitor, as Kerryon Johnson could become an early-down workhorse with Blount out of the picture.
- Vance McDonald hurt his foot Sunday, but the extent of his injury isn't known. More updates should come Monday.
Drawing hype:
- Will Fuller reportedly arrived to camp between 15 and 20 pounds heavier than he was last season. It remains to be seen if this added bulk will cost him any of his speed, but a bigger frame would theoretically make Fuller more effective against press coverage.
- The Colts have an unsettled depth chart under the established T.Y. Hilton, which is important to keep in mind since an Andrew Luck-led offense could realistically produce two or three fantasy-relevant receivers. Chester Rogers is probably considered the favorite to win the No. 2 role given his experience with Luck, but sixth-round rookie Deon Cain is making some noise during the opening days of training camp and can't be considered an afterthought anymore. Ryan Grant and another rookie, Reece Fountain, are also in the mix here.
- Like last year, the Tampa Bay offense is getting some summertime love, but it's more notable this time around since backup Ryan Fitzpatrick is the one getting most of the reps at quarterback. One specific name to keep in mind here is DeSean Jackson, who, despite his deep-threat reputation, is reportedly building a nice rapport with Fitzpatrick on short and intermediate throws. With Mike Evans still around to draw safety help, Jackson looks like a ripe post-hype target given his current WR58 ADP in DRAFT best ball leagues.
