- Sam Darnold went ahead an signed his rookie contract ending his holdout and promptly reported to camp. The deal is worth $30.2 million that includes a $20 million signing bonus and is fully guaranteed, a nice payday for most. This is a clear indication that he'll likely take over at some point this season but there's still a strong possibility that Josh McCown is under center Week 1.
- Aaron Jones is expecting a quick return from his hamstring injury. Jones is going to miss the first two games of the season due to suspension so missing more time might push him further down the depth chart with Ty Montgomery and Jamaal Williams expected to be in the backfield mix. Jones averaged 5.5 yards per carry last season and probably offers the most upside of any back for the Packers but expect some time of timeshare between the three to for the first part of the season once Jones returns.
- Boston Scott has been impressive in the pass-catching phase out of the backfield for the Saints. With Mark Ingram suspended for the first four games of the season the opportunity will be there for someone other than Alvin Kamara to step up and contribute in the Saints' backfield. Scott, a sixth round pick out of Louisiana Tech could end up with touches early on if he can keep impressing at this level. At 5-7, 205 lbs he has athleticism off the charts as far as his strength and speed combination making him an intriguing option should he carve out a role while Ingram is out.
- Michael Gallup is getting some work in with the first team during camp. Outside of the Bills, the Cowboys may have the worst group of receivers in the league. Therefore it would make sense for Dallas to see what they have in Gallup as him beating out Allen Hurns or Terrance Williams shouldn't be a tough task. Dallas will need someone to fill the void left by Dez Bryant and Gallup will compete to at least partially fill that role.
- Juju Smith-Schuster is dealing with a minor injury. Nothing has been stated specifically about it and currently the second year player is going in drafts around pick 42. For now there's no reason to be overly concerned about this development.
- Corey Coleman has been impressive during camp, according to Hue Jackson. Coleman has been hit by the injury bug and a case of the dropsies at times during his two-year career but the upside is apparent when he's on the field. With Josh Gordon's status in limbo there could be a big opportunity here no matter who's throwing him the ball. A mobile quarterback, solid running attack and Jarvis Landry in the slot should open up the outside for Coleman to get open deep.
