Just a few things that caught my eye:
- Peter Laviolette is just the fourth coach in history to take three different teams to the Stanley Cup Final. The Canes got rings; the Flyers did not. Will the Preds?
- Colton Sissons? He was a scorer in junior, but his best NHL trait is his two-way determination. Monday, he became the first player to net a hattie in a Conference Final since Patrick Kane in 2013. Too bad the fans didn't notice until the next TV timeout.
- Corey Perry actually was at his dirty best as the series went on. The beginning of the end?
- And in Montreal, people are flipping cars and lighting garbage cans on fire. Pernell Karl, you're still loved.
- The Preds keep trotting out celebrity anthem singers in the postseason. Their regular singer, Dennis K. Morgan, deserves better.
- Nick Ritchie could face suspension to start the season. The Ducks play heavy, but that was just stupid.
- Nice touch to have Mike Fisher come out to accept the trophy. And to have the Preds all wait until Ryan Johansen hobbled out in a sweatshirt and shorts for the team pic with the trophy.
- Jonathan Bernier might want Sissons' first goal back, but he wasn't the reason they lost. Wait -- I take that back. Bernier's save percentage was just .750. He only made 12 saves!
- The Ducks made a game of it in the third. Pekka power took them down.
- Ryan Getzlaf was outstanding this postseason. He was absolutely dominant. He understands how hard it is to get back to the Final.
- Congrats, Preds -- the yellow wave will continue, making that arena one of the toughest places to play in the league.
