Just a few things that caught my eye:
- In baseball, Alexander Ovechkin would be a star with his .300 average. In hockey, that .300 is pathetic when you consider it's his Game 7 winning percentage.
- Marc-Andre Fleury is one strangely happy dude. He's given love to his posts in previous games, but he got "shaft" to trend on Twitter after making a lucky save on Ovie. Turn up the volume and try not to laugh.
- Where the !!! was Jordan Eberle? Two assists in 13 games and his ice time was reduced to 12:10 at the end. It's the end of the line in the Oil Patch, Ebbs. Bu-bye.
- Next year, Oilers. Next year. You can't learn what you learned this year from a book.
- Seriously, hands up if you said the Sens would be the last Canadian team standing. Thought not.
- John Gibson answered the bell in a huge way after his Game 6 collapse. But Pekka Rinne still has the edge next round.
- Does the future Conn Smythe winner end up in the blue paint in Calgary or Las Vegas? Either way, it's a coup.
- Nick Ritchie looked great riding shotgun with Ryan Getzlaf. That's one heavy, HEAVY line.
- A contrast of two high-powered losers. Edmonton is a team on the way up. They'll be great to watch for years to come. Washington is headed the other way. Deconstruction is imminent.
- Barry Trotz or Randy Carlyle? Both are great regular-season coaches. Just one knows how to win in the playoffs.
- Jake Guentzel set a Pens record for postseason points by a rookie. Yep, Jake Guentzel. Go figure.
- Back to Trotz. It's gotta pain him that the Preds are still in the hunt. Pain him in a deep, self-awareness kind of way.
- Cam Talbot made one significant mistake against the Ducks. Unfortunately, it came on the winning goal. Otherwise, he was a beast in the postseason.
