Just a few things that caught my eye:
- Justin Williams for Conn Smythe? It's really not a stretch any more. Anze Kopitar should get it, but he who gets quiet in the Final often gets the shaft.
- When is goalie interference not goalie interference? We shouldn't be surprised, though -- wasn't it the ref at center ice that made the interference call when Henrik Lundqvist got elbowed in the head in the trapezoid? Maybe things look bigger -- and more obvious -- from far away.
- Rick Nash finally showed up. I guess he just put the wrong month/date/time/opposing team in his iPhone. Think?
- Geez, the Rangers can't help but feeling a little shell shocked. It could very easily be 2-0 for them heading home. And they don't exactly excel at home. Yikes.
- And now in breaking news, Martin Brodeur will test free agency because he believes he's still a starter. Yawn. Go thee quietly into the night. Do not sully your reputation any more.
- How is it possible for a team that hasn't led in their past 229:15 -- a four-game span -- can win so bloody much. The last lead ended half-way through period three in Game 6 against the Hawks. When does the luck run out? Or does it?
- Jim Rutherford in Pittsburgh? Personally, I would have loved to have seen Pierre Maguire in that role, but loose lips sink ships -- and jobs, apparently.
- What's the over-under on a buy-out of Brad Richards this summer? He had three points in his first playoff game (Philly) and has eight in 21 since. I've always loved his game and would argue he's still the Lightning's best pick from the 1998 draft. But his foot speed is being exposed. Sad, really.
