Just a few things that caught my eye ...
- Can you hear footsteps? The Devils sure can. They'd best use that ability to bail to start saving their sinking ship.
- This matchup may not be stellar, but the goaltending sure is. Both Martin Brodeur and Jonathan Quick are athletic and reactive, and their hybrid stylings are bringing back the art of twine-tending. It's about time we all say 'buh-bye' to Francois Allaire and his fleet of robots ...
- Drew Doughty isn't Bobby Orr, but that end-to-end goal was Orr-esque. Sigh.
- The story so far is pretty simple. The Kings' big boys are stepping up and scoring; the Devils' are not.
- The Kings are a perfect 10 -- that's 10-0 -- on the road this postseason. And based on their play, they could stay that way. A sweep is looking more and more possible.
- I like Travis Zajac and everything, but the guy seriously has to shoot the puck. You cannot slice into the slot, have a perfect angle ... and pass! Arrrggghhh.
- Three goals in his last four games and five this postseason -- Ryan Carter didn't "fit" in Anaheim, Carolina or Florida, but he sure does in Jersey. Every pound puppy eventually finds a forever home ...
- Tim Thomas says he wants to play for the 2014 US Olympic team. Dream on, pouty man. Jonathan Quick will be there when it counts most. Then Ryan Miller. And then maybe Jimmy Howard or Cory Schneider.
- Is Martin Brodeur the best goalie -- regardless of era -- to have ever played in the NHL?
