The Colts reported that Peyton Manning may not be ready for Week 1 – This could change a lot of drafts at the end of August if the outlook on Manning's neck doesn't somehow dramatically improve over the next couple weeks. The entire Colts offense stands to be downgraded significantly if Manning were to be replaced by Curtis Painter for the first week or two of the season. Manning is a lock to miss the entire rest of the preseason and given the sensitive nature of his neck injury, there's really no telling how many more weeks this will take to heal properly. While it's tough to doubt Manning given his streak of starts, this is the type of injury that you simply can't take a gamble on, so it would not be the least bit surprising if the Colts offense is absolutely horrible in Week 1.
Ryan Williams is officially done for the year with a ruptured patella – The formal announcement that Williams will miss his rookie year after his knee surgery immediately makes Beanie Wells a workhorse with tremendous upside if he can stay healthy. Wells is now well worth a pick in the first six rounds of all leagues.
Arian Foster sure didn't look hurt – His hamstring "injury" apparently will not slow down Foster much, if at all, this year. After racking up 47 yards on only five carries including two touchdowns, one of 28 yards, Foster appears to still be the top running back in the league, both real and fantasy.
Ben Tate looked completely healthy as well – And at last the world finally gets to see what Tate can do in an NFL uniform, which, 95 yards and a touchdown later on just nine carries looked awfully good. The sore hamstring he's missed time with during camp did not slow him in the slightest, so if he continues to look this impressive in the Texans' next preseason game he can be considered a perfect handcuff to Foster or a solid flier pick for someone with good starting running backs.
Tim Tebow who? – Brady Quinn was announced the starter shortly before the Broncos squared off with Buffalo in their second preseason game and the demotion looked more like a final decision from head coach John Fox by the end of the fourth quarter. Quinn played well, throwing for 130 yards with a touchdown. Given that Tebow only played two series in the fourth during garbage time, and attempted only two passes, it appears he might already be locked into the bottom rung of the Broncos' QB depth chart with Quinn winning the battle for No. 2. Of course, there is the real possibility that the Broncos are trying to create a trade market for Quinn if he can continue to perform well in the preseason.
