DeSean Jackson will reportedly end his holdout Monday – Jackson is expected to join his Eagles teammates in camp on Monday and begin practicing while his agent negotiates a contract extension with the team. With new CBA rules, players have very little leverage in holdouts. If Jackson were to wait past Tuesday to return he would not accrue a year towards free agency, so he has little choice but to come back. Let's hope he does not become another victim of rushing back to practice too quickly. This speedster won't be himself if he pulls a hamstring or calf muscle.
Derrick Mason signed a one-year deal with the Jets – This signing benefits the Jets offense as a whole, giving them a quality possession receiver who can keep drives alive and help Mark Sanchez continue to develop. From a fantasy standpoint however, it is not the best scenario for Mason, who would have resumed the No. 2 role had he returned to Baltimore instead. In New York he will be at best the No. 3 receiving weapon behind Santonio Holmes and Plaxico Burress, and he will also lose targets to tight end Dustin Keller.
Johnny Knox (back) missed practice for the second consecutive day – This does not appear to be much more than a cautious approach to typical camp soreness, but it is worth noting if Knox continues to miss any time this week. If back soreness regresses into back spasms it could be a long year for the Bears' best deep threat and last year's No. 1 receiver. With more competition expected from the addition of Roy Williams and the growth of Earl Bennett, a nagging injury could greatly diminish Knox's fantasy value for this season.
John Beck (groin) missed practice today – Beck had to leave practice today after tweaking his groin in an early drill. He has yet to impress much during the first couple weeks of camp and losing reps with minor injuries does not help matters. It seems the starting quarterback in Washington could flip flop from week to week this season.
Andre Johnson (finger) is expected to practice Sunday – Though the finger dislocation was never really a major concern for Johnson's fantasy value, it is reassuring to hear he will be back so quickly. How much he will be involved on Sunday, or this week for that matter, remains to be seen, but hopefully there will be no setbacks to this injury and he will finish the preseason at 100|PERCENT|.
Prince Amukamara fractured a bone in his left foot – Expected to be a shutdown corner, Amukamara would not likely have carried much IDP value as a rookie. Now, however, it is possible we won't even get to find out. After breaking his left foot today, it is not known how much time Amukamara will miss, but he is not expected back anytime soon. More than anything, this hurts the Giants team defense, which may be without their projected starter for a big chunk of the season.
