NHL Playoff Observations -- Lord Stanley Game Four

Just a few things that caught my eye:

  • I want Tim Thomas on my side the next time a street brawl breaks out. He swings a mighty blocker.
  • Canucks and Capitals -- cut from the same cloth? Discuss.
  • Why was it that Roberto Luongo was thought to be a superhero behind a suspect defense in Florida but sub-average behind a struggling blue line in Vancouver?
  • Speaking of superheroes -- Tim Thomas has been other-worldly between the pipes. Granted, he's been able to see just about every shot, even with a view from behind the net. But he's still been great. Conn Smythe great.
  • I wasn't really ever a David Krejci fan... let me re-phrase that. I never really paid much attention to the guy. Until now. The vision and those hands...wow!
  • Most impactful Bruin? The team is 11-4 with him in the lineup but just 4-4 without. Guess? Shawn Thornton. No kidding.
  • Back to Bobby Lou. The Florida thing got me to thinking. His best twine-tending years came in south Florida when he was lithe and athletic. The difference? Take a look at the size of his equipment then versus now. No wonder he's clumsy now -- he's grown three or four sizes since the good old days. There's no way we can be athletic wearing his current get-up.
  • You have to wonder how the Canucks managed to be knotted at twos in this series. They've only led for a grand total of 17:07 in the entire series. This could have been a Bruins' sweep had the puck bounced a little differently in Vancouver.
  • When Michael Ryder decides to show up, he really decides to show up. He really is a brilliant sniper... when he wants to be.
  • Rich Peverley isn't just lucky -- he did have 55 points last year in his first full NHL season. He deserved the tacky taffeta B's disco jacket Wednesday night.
  • Henrik Sedin has got to have a lower leg injury -- have you seen how many Bruins have two-handed him on the calf or ankle? There were a couple times Wednesday where he had a pronounced on-ice limp.
