Just a few things that caught my eye:
- Mike Green has a few screws loose... literally. Two screws went flying when he took a slap shot to the helmet in the first period. It's his third head injury since Feb. 5; his postseason goose could -- let me re-phrase, should -- be cooked.
- The Bruins should turn down all power plays -- they simply have no idea how to enter the zone with an extra man. I don't get it.
- Well, well, well -- Steven Stamkos decided to show up. Nice effort but too little, too late.
- Explain to me why Ryan Clowe is on the Sharks' second power-play unit when a goal would have gotten them to within one with eight minutes remaining. Clowe has the Sharks' only two PP goals.
- Two more yanks in the land of horrific netminding performances. What is that -- about 23 this postseason?
- He isn't fast. And he's not the most skilled player on the ice. But Logan Couture impresses me more and more with each passing shift. Wow. I wish I owned him in my keeper leagues.
- Here's an interesting fact heading into play Sunday -- no goalie who wears number one has won a Stanley Cup since Bernie Parent did it in 1975. Know who wears number one? Yep, Roberto Luongo. Uh-oh.
- From goat to great? Jonathan Quick. Talk about a rebound. But mark my words -- it's Jonathan Bernier time in 2011-12. It'll be an open competition come training camp and Bernier will be favored.
- Two best saves of the night? Michael Ryder and Dany Heatley. Seriously. The latter is the most impressive -- at least Ryder is a ball hockey goalie in the summer so the resume is there. I think it's the first time I've seen Heatley in his own zone.
- Hi-def is fantastic unless you have cats. Puck-chasing behavior that used to disappear at about six months has continued to the 20-month mark. And two scratches on the glass. Yep.
- Two biggest draft day flops? Dustin Penner can only occasionally convert even when pucks are gift wrapped for him. And Tomas Kaberle has been demoted to the B's third pairing. His soft play along the boards led to the Habs' tying goal. General managers in Toronto and Edmonton are looking like thieves for landing former first round picks in Joe Colborne and Colton Teubert respectively, first rounders this year and conditional seconds for each of these stiffs.
- Over-under on who goes first -- John Tortorella or Marian Gaborik?
- Patrice Bergeron may be the most impressive faceoff man I've seen in a long time. There are few guarantees in life but his wins in the circle are one of them.
- Advice to Andrew Ference -- acknowledge your stupidity. Your finger got caught on your glove? Just say you had a brain fart and you're sorry. You look like an arse.
