Just a few things that caught my eye:
- Dwayne Roloson -- goalie or diva? The last time I saw acting like that it won an Oscar. Or was it a Razzie? In a matter of minutes, he earned 5.9 for a power flop, 5.7 for pushing the net off and 5.3 for embellishing an easy save. I couldn't watch any more.
- Pavel Datsyuk has hands any woman would love. And every guy, too. Just for very, VERY different reasons.
- Corey Crawford needed to get through the first period. Just not that way. Let's hope those nerves disappear because Marty Turco sure isn't the answer.
- Alexander Oveckhin is a phenomenal player. But he should not -- I repeat, should not -- be carrying the puck up the ice on the PP. He went about as fast as that Sunday driver with the hat. Let Mike Green carry it, man. He has speed. And urgency.
- Urgency and speed -- those are things the Rangers just can't handle. Teams like the Maple Leafs drove them nuts. But a plodding Capitals' attack? There's no fear in that. The Blueshirts got a lot of confidence out of that OT loss.
- Speaking of the Caps. They're going nowhere fast if they can't figure out how to cycle the puck. At some point, you have to manufacture goals. They can't all come off the rush. Let me change that -- they won't all come off the rush.
- Marc-Andre Fleury -- is there any doubt? Wow.
- Forget about Steven Stamkos -- the guy is already taking a pounding. But Vincent Lecavalier? He's back and in a huge way. That between-the-legs number in front of the net was brilliant. Too bad they won't go far.
- Don't be fooled by Alexander Semin. When the going gets tough, the weak leave the arena. And take the puck with them. Pouting.
- Only in Canada, you say? Yep -- the French-language political debate scheduled for Thursday night was moved because of the Habs' game. First smart move made by a politician in a long time -- no French-speaking Canadian would have tuned in, even during Coach's Corner.
- Can a team win in the playoffs with defensemen leading the team in scoring? Ask the Preds in a week or so.
- I'm holding out hope my Hawks can do better than just squeak into the postseason. Jonathan Toews is arguably the most valuable player in the league right now; he just won't get any Hart votes. But he's the guy I'd want to lead my battle.
