What to Watch: Week 11 in College Football (Part I)

Thursday

7:30 PM ET ESPN: Pittsburgh 5-3 (-6) @ UConn 4-4 - Pitt is the only team in the Big East to not have two losses in conference play, thus UConn is trying to bring them back to the pack and put themselves back in contention for the conference title.  To do so, they'll have to pass the ball much better than they have lately.  QB Zach Frazer has thrown a TD pass in only 1 of the 6 games he has played in this season.  In the run game they'll rely on RB Jordan Todman, the nation's 4th leading rusher.  Pitt will answer with their 8th ranked run defense and two running backs of their own, Ray Graham and Dion Lewis.  QB Tino Sunseri leads the Big East in completion percentage (65.9|PERCENT|) and is second in QB passer rating (145.69).  The series is split 3-3 over the last 6 games.

Panthers Offense: 368.9 yards/game (68th), 5.8 yards/play (43rd), & 38.3|PERCENT| 3rd Down (72nd)

Friday

9:00 PM ET ESPN2: #4 Boise State 8-0 (-34.5) @ Idaho 4-5 - Idaho gets the unenviable task this week of trying to stop a Boise State team that is out prove they belong in the national championship game.  The Vandals have a passing offense that ranks 4th in yards per game, but the Broncos just faced the #1 passing offense in Hawaii and completely shut them down, allowing just 196 yards.  The Idaho run game is one of the worst in the nation, which is fine because Boise State was most likely going to shut it down anyways with their 2nd ranked run defense.  Expect Broncos QB Kellen Moore, who is in the running for the Heisman trophy, to have a monster game and possibly be pulled before the 4th quarter.  It's entirely possible that Boise State comes out a bit flat in this game seeing as how they just played one of their best game of the season, they're on a short week, they're on the road, it's becoming clear that they're probably going to be left out of the title game, and they could be looking forward to a game with Fresno State next week.  Of course they're also playing Idaho.
