Carlos Boozer out eight weeks with a broken hand – The Bulls' prized free-agent acquisition suffered a fracture of the fifth metacarpal in his right hand Saturday. The injury will require surgery and could keep Boozer sidelined for the first 15 games of the season. Boozer missed 138 of a possible 492 games during his six seasons with the Jazz, so injuries aren't something new for the power forward. Taj Gibson is the most likely candidate to start at power forward while Boozer is out.
Josh McRoberts continues to make his case for the starting lineup – Here's your newest sleeper. McRoberts has been the most impressive player in training camp for the Pacers, and he appears to be running away with the starting power forward gig. Tyler Hansbrough (ear, vertigo) is McRoberts's main competition, but the former Tar Heel still hasn't been cleared for five-on-five drills. McRoberts put up quality stats the few instances he was given extended playing time last season and could easily be one of the biggest breakout players of the year if he lands the starting job.
Jrue Holiday in line for loads of playing time – Sixers coach Doug Collins plans to play Holiday about 36 minutes per game this season. Holiday averaged 12.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.3 threes and 1.6 steals per 36 minutes last season. With a year under his belt, he should be able to improve on those numbers across the board. Bump Holiday up your cheatsheets.
