AP Top 25
1. Alabama (1-0) - Won 48-3 against San Jose State (0-1) without reigning Heisman Trophy winner RB Mark Ingram and DE Marcell Dareus, both of which should miss this week's game as well. QB Greg McElroy threw for 218 yards & 1 TD, RB Trent Richardson ran for 66 yards & 2 TDs, and WR Julio Jones caught 6 passes for 93 yards & 1 TD. Next: 18 Penn State (1-0)
2. Ohio State (1-0) - Won 45-7 against Marshall (0-1) in a game where Heisman hopeful QB Terrelle Pryor looked great with 247 passing yards and 3 TDs. RB Brandon Saine had 9 carries for 103 yards & 2 TDs and looked really fast while doing it. This week's game against The U is big one. Next: 12 Miami (1-0)
3. Boise State (1-0) - Won 33-30 against 13 Virginia Tech (0-1) in a huge game for the school's national title hopes. QB Kellen Moore threw for 215 yards and 3 TDs, the last of which went to WR Austin Pettis for the game winner. Any and all talk that they don't belong should stop. The fact that they don't play in a BCS conference doesn't mean they're not a good team. If you're still not a believer, have your team schedule them. Moore should be the front-runner for the Heisman right now with how he played. Next: Idle
4. TCU (1-0) - Won 30-21 against Oregon State (0-1) in what should be their only big test this season. QB Andy Dalton threw for 175 yards with 1 TD & 2 INTs and also rushed for 64 yards and 2 TDs. RB Ed Wesley had 17 carries for 134 yards & 1 TD. Who's ready for a Boise State vs TCU game for the national championship? Next: Tennessee Tech (0-1)
5. Texas (1-0) - Won 34-17 against Rice (0-1) in a game I went to. QB Garrett Gilbert threw for 172 yards with 0 TDs & 0 INTs, while RB Tre Newton ran for 61 yards and 3 TDs. The offense looked pretty stagnant, that or the Rice defense is better than I thought. Next: Wyoming (1-0)
6. Nebraska (1-0) - Won 49-10 against Western Kentucky (0-1) with new QB Taylor Martinez going 9/15 for 136 yards and 127 rushing yards on 7 carries for 3 TDs... not bad. Martinez should have defenses guessing all season long. Next: Idaho (1-0)
7. Oregon (1-0) - Won 72-0 against New Mexico (0-1) in a laugher. No Jeremiah Masoli, no problem as QB Daron Thomas was 13/23 for 220 yards & 2 TDs. RB Kenjon Barner ran 147 yards on 17 carries with 4 TDs. This week's game at could have a similar score. Next: at Tennessee (1-0)
8. Florida (1-0) - Won 34-12 against (OH) (0-1) in a game that was 21-9 heading into the 4th quarter. New QB John Brantley was 17/25 for 113 yards & 2 TDs. RB Jeff Demps ran for 98 yards on 8 carries and 1 TD. The Red Hawks recovered 3 Gators fumbles, which was a theme for the Gators. Next: South Florida (1-0)
9. Iowa (1-0) - Won 37-7 against Eastern Illinois (0-1) by dominating the Panthers offense. Eastern Illinois managed only 157 total yards. QB Ricky Stanzi was 18/23 for 229 yards and 1 TD. RB Adam Robinson ran for 109 yards on 24 carries with 3 TDs. Next: Iowa State (1-0)
10. Oklahoma (1-0) - Won 31-24 against Utah State (0-1) in a game that was in question all the way. The Sooners had only 1 more yard in total offense (422), despite winning the turnover battle 4/2. QB Landry Jones was 17/36 (yuck) for 217 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs. DeMarco Murray was the star with 218 yards on 35 carries and 2 TDs. The defense better come to play this week. Next: 17 Florida State (1-0)
11. Wisconsin (1-0) - Won 41-21 against UNLV (0-1) by bludgeoning them to death with 278 rushing yards. RB big John Clay ran for 123 yards on 17 carries and 2 TDs. QB Scotty Tolzien was 15/20 for 197 yards, 0 TDs, and 1 INT. Next: San Jose State (0-1)
12. Miami (FL) (1-0) - Won 45-0 against Florida A&M (0-1) in a game where they held the Rattlers to just 110 total yards. QB Jacory Harris was 12/15 for 210 yards and 3 TDs. RB Leonard Hankerson had 6 catches for 115 yards and 2 TDs. The Canes have a huge game this week with the Luckeyes... yeah, I'm still bitter about that 2002 pass interference call. Next: at 2 Ohio State (1-0)
13. Virginia Tech (0-1) - Lost to 30-33 against Boise State (1-0) in a game that had big time title implications for the Broncos. Stud RB Ryan Williams managed only 44 yards on 21 carries, but did get 2 TDs rushing and 1 receiving. QB Tyrod Taylor was 15/22 for 186 yards and 2 TDs. He also ran for 73 yards on 16 carries. The Hokies won the time of possession battle 34:20 to 25:40, but passed the ball when running it would have probably taken another minute off the clock. Instead, the Broncos got the ball back for a game winning drive with 2 min left. Next: James Madison (1-0)
14. Arkansas (1-0) - Won 44-3 against Tennessee Tech (0-1) in a game the Golden Eagles led 3-0, after the first quarter. Pro prospect QB Ryan Mallet was 21/24 for 301 yards, 3 TDs, and 1 INT. WR Joe Adams caught 6 balls for 138 yards and 2 TDs. The Razorbacks will want to work on their 3 turnovers going into this week. Next: at Louisiana-Monroe (0-0)
15. Georgia Tech (1-0) - Won 41-10 against South Carolina State (0-1) in a game where the Yellow Jackets passed for only 12 yards. Of course you can do that when you rush for 372 yards and use a triple-option attack. QB Joshua Nesbitt ran for 130 yards on 16 carries for 3 TDs. RB Roddy Jones ran for 45 yards on 4 carries for 2 TDs. In all, GT had 12 different players with at least 1 carry. Next: at Kansas (0-1)
16. USC (1-0) - Won 49-36 against Hawaii (0-1) with Lane Kiffin deciding to go for 2-pt conversions on the Trojans first three TDs, two of which failed. The USC defense was simply awful in this one, giving up 588 total yards. They committed 11 penalties for 100 yards and were lucky Warriors QB Bryant Moniz was knocked out of the game because he had the offense rolling. USC QB Matt Barkley was one of the few bright spots as he was 18/23 for 257 yards and 5 TDs. RB Marc Tyler rushed for 154 yards on 17 with 1 TD, while WR Ronald Johnson caught 7 balls for 59 yards and 3 TDs. Johnson also had an 89 yard punt return for a TD. Monte Kiffin needs to do some serious work with this defense if they are going to have a chance in the Pac-10 this season. Next: Virginia (1-0)
17. Florida State (1-0) - Won 59-6 against Samford (0-1) in a game where Christian Ponder looked every bit the Heisman candidate he's been hyped up to be. He was 12/14 for 167 yards and 4 TDs at half. RB Ty Jones carried the ball 8 times for 107 yards and 1 TD. The Seminoles get a tough one this week in Norman. Next: at 10 Oklahoma (1-0)

RB Evan Royster totted the rock 11 times for 40 yards and 0 TDs. Ageless coach Joe Paterno and his Nittany Lions will travel to Tuscaloosa this week for a meeting with Nick Saban. Next: at 1 Alabama (1-0)
19. LSU (1-0) - Won 30-24 against North Carolina (0-1) barely. The Tar Heels had almost their entire starting defense and WR Greg Little out due two NCAA investigations. The Tigers were leading 30-10 at half, but fell asleep at the wheel and allowed UNC to come with in one play of an upset win. The best CB in college football, Patrick Peterson was out the game on a Jheranie Boyd 97 yard TD catch because the LSU coaches thought the game was out of hand. Tigers QB Jordan Jefferson was 15/21 for 151 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INT. RB/WR/QB Russell Shepard ran for 67 yards on 5 carries for 1 TD and caught 2 balls for 12 yards and 1 TD. Leave it to Les Miles to turn what should be a slam dunk win into a complete mess. Next: at Vanderbilt (0-1)
20. Utah (1-0) - Won 27-24 against Pitt (0-1) in what was an odd game all around. Down 13-24 in the 4th quarter, the Panthers scored a TD, 2-pt conversion, and FG late to tie the game. Utes coach Kyle Whittingham called a timeout prior to the final FG, which was good to leave the game 24-21 Utah. He then called another timeout prior to the next try, which was a failed attempt. On the third try, Pitt kicker Dan Hutchins nailed the 30 yarder to send the game into overtime. In the overtime, Pitt QB Tino Sunseri threw a pick on the first play to end the Panthers possession. The Utes quickly got into FG position and kicked the game winner. Utah QB Jordan Wynn was 21/36 for 283 yards, 3 TDs, and 1 INT. WR DeVonte Christopher had 8 catches for 155 yards and 1 TD. Next: UNLV (0-1)

Florida transfer QB Cam Newton was 9/14 for 186 yards, and 3 TDs passing and had 171 yards rushing on 15 carries for 2 TDs... busy day at the office. The Tigers defense held the Red Wolves to just 43 rushing yards on 35 attempts. This week they kickoff SEC conference play at Starkville. Next: at Mississippi State (1-0)
22. Georgia (1-0) - Won 55-7 against Louisiana-Lafayette (0-1) in a game where they held the Ragin' Cajuns to just 14 yards rushing and 128 yards total. New Bulldogs QB Aaron Murray was 17/26 for 160 yards and 3 TDs. He also ran for 42 yards on 4 carries and 1 TD. Things get pretty interesting this week as they travel to play the Ol' Ball Coach in Columbia. Next: at 24 South Carolina (1-0)
23. West Virginia (1-0) - Won 31-0 against Coastal Carolina (0-1) in a rout. QB Geno Smith threw for 216 yards on 20/27 passing for 2 TDs and 1 INT. Heisman hopeful RB Noel Devine ran for 111 yards on 23 carries for 1 TD. The Mountaineers defense held the Chanticleers to just 1.9 yards per rush. The schedule is pretty easy for WV, until they travel to Baton Rouge at the end of the month. Next: at Marshall (0-1)
24. South Carolina (1-0) - Won 41-13 against Southern Miss (0-1) with QB Stephen Garcia leading the way. He was 16/23 for 193 yards passing and had 54 yards rushing on 5 carries for 2 TDs. RB Marcus Lattimore chipped in with 54 yards rushing on 14 carries for 2 TDs. They take on red-shirt freshman QB Aaron Murray and the Bulldogs this week. Next: 22 Georgia (1-0)
25. Stanford (1-0) - Won 52-17 against Sacramento State (0-1) in a game where QB Andrew Luck could do no wrong. He was 17/23 for 316 yards and 4 TDs. The run game lost RB Toby Gerhart to the NFL, but not their offensive line, which bullied the Hornets all game long and helped Cardinals rushers to 213 yards and 3 TDs. WR Doug Baldwin had 4 catches for 111 yards and 2 TDs. They start Pac-10 play this week on the road. Next: at UCLA (0-1)
Dropped from rankings: Pitt & North Carolina - Pitt lost to Utah, while UNC lost to LSU. Both games were discussed above.
