The Cardinals part ways with Matt Leinart – The former Heisman winner was released on Saturday after losing the starting quarterback gig to Derek Anderson. Leinart actually posted a great quarterback rating (104.6) this preseason, but his success was misleading when considered that he transformed into Captain Checkdown and averaged just 7.95 yards per completion. He seemed like a great leader and future NFL star while under center at USC, but Leinart has had numerous chances with the Cardinals and hasn't shown that he has the chops to lead a professional team. Regardless, he'll get another shot elsewhere, with the Seahawks, Vikings and Jaguars being bandied about in early rumors.
Houshmanzadeh tossed to the free-agent pile as well – After failing to trade Houshmanzadeh earlier in the week, the Seahawks opted to release him on Saturday. Owners don't need to panic yet, as numerous teams with a void at wide receiver are already looking into inking the former pro bowler. His production has dipped each of the past two seasons, but Houshmanzadeh's value could receive a nice boost if he signs with a team like Minnesota or San Diego.
Bradford named the Rams' Week 1 starter – The No. 1 overall pick has put together a solid preseason, completing 33-of-55 passes for 338 yards and three touchdowns without throwing a pick. As we saw with Mathew Stafford and Mark Sanchez last season, rookie quarterbacks who get handed the reins right out of the gates don't always have immediate success from a fantasy perspective. He might have a couple of big games sprinkled in throughout the season, but don't look for Bradford to provide much value outside of being a backup option in fantasy.
The Redskins' running back situation clears up – Washington released Willie Parker and Ryan Torain on Saturday. That makes Larry Johnson the clear-cut handcuff to starter Clinton Portis. Portis dealt with concussion problems last season and is already dealing with an ankle injury this preseason, so make sure you grab Johnson as insurance if you're rolling with the Redskins' lead back.
