Just a few things that caught my eye:
- I wish I was in Montreal tonight -- what a party.
- Pavol Demitra, the $4 million mistake. What exactly were you thinking when you let Dave Bolland by you on that PP? Take a penalty if you have to -- show you care.
- Speaking of sitting and watching a parade go by -- Sergei Gonchar, what the $#|PERCENT|# were you thinking? Were you too busy checking out that hot blonde in the front row to notice Travis Moen blow by? Or did he throw down some little hard candies and you just wanted to be sure you saw where they landed?
- Dennis Wideman may have stunk out the joint in the regular season but he's tied for the team lead in points (11) this postseason. He has twice as many points as Matt Hunwick, Johnny Boychuk and Zdeno Chara...
- I may not like Mike Richards but I do respect what he's doing this postseason -- almost single-handedly carrying the Flyers to the Eastern final while ignoring Chris Pronger's abrasive arrogance. Mind you, maybe he's the reason David Krejci's wrist is broken and he truly is channeling Bobby Clarke's ankle-breaking ways.
- Which honor does Michael Cammalleri get first -- team captain or mayor of Montreal?
- Compare and contrast -- captain Sidney Crosby's post-game scrum where he acknowledged the Pens didn't do enough vs. captain Roberto Luongo's quip that he did better than last year (five goals were better than seven). One of these two won't be captain next year... any guesses?
- Two nights, two sketchy efforts tending the twine. And to think most fantasy owners would put Roberto Luongo and Marc-Andre Fleury in the top-three for keeper leagues...
- P.K. Subban is the new prince of Bel-air -- this kid can do nothing wrong. He's made me a Habs fan. And I've actually gained some respect for Jacques -- I've got a gherkin up my butt -- Martin for swallowing his pride and allowing a pimple-faced toddler to play the second-most minutes of all Habs skaters. Wow.
- Alexei Ponikarovsky goes from Toronto to Pittsburgh and ends up an ineffective afterthought. So much for a big free agent pay day come July 1.
- The Pens lost because of the salary cap. The Habs effectively shut down their three big-money centermen (Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Jordan Staal) and ignored all those spare part wingers that skate with them. Funny enough, the Habs won despite the salary cap. Has Bob Gainey been vindicated for Scott Gomez ($7.4 mil), Cammalleri ($6 mil), Brian Gionta ($5 mil) and Roman Hamrlik ($5.5 mil)?
