We'd like to point out here at RotoWire, that not only do we have the best up-to-the-minute news and savvy projections, but we can also change the future.
Not convinced? Last Friday we posted a trivia question to the RotoWire staff: What player had kept their spot on the RotoWire depth chart for the longest amount of time? The RotoWire depth charts are updated constantly and players who are injured are moved to the bottom of their team's position when on the DL.
So the player who had been there the longest hadn't been on the DL, hadn't been traded/changed teams and kept their starting job for the longest period of time.
The winner? Joe Nathan. He'd been at the No. 1 closer position on the depth charts since 12/10/2003. That was a pretty amazing stretch of almost seven years at the top of a depth chart.
The next day Nathan tore a ligament in his pitching arm and is almost assuredly out for the season.
Sadly, I originated the trivia question and had him as a potential keeper on our 18-team mixed staff keeper league.
The next player who's been atop their team's depth chart the longest? Derek Jeter.
Look out Jeter owners, we may have just jinxed him.
If only we can figure out a way to monetize this process.
