Today is a dark day in Seahawks history. Actually, it'll be a bright day -- but for the worst reason imaginable. The Seahawks are wearing these hideous, ugly, untraditional, ridiculous, immature, undignified and just plain goofy neon green jerseys today. It's a complete mockery of all that is noble about sports, football and the NFL.

I understand the necessity of finding new revenue streams, but there's also an issue of taste. This is the N.F.L., not the XFL. Come to think of it, I've never seen a jersey so embarrassing at any level of football -- Pop Warner through the Arena League.  Where's your dignity, Seahawks? Do you have no inner voice warning you of the ridicule headed your way? Do you not realize what a joke this makes of the franchise? And think of the players. You can't be a bad-ass in neon green. Even Dick Butkus would look like a pansy in neon green. And why neon green, of all colors? If you want to don a new jersey, at least stick to the team colors.

Fortunately, the Seahawks will probably get hammered today, so hopefully that will make everyone want to quickly forget about these things. What a complete and utter embarrassment.
