1.  Assuming that you set weekly lineups, remember that unlike most events, this tournament runs Friday through Monday, ending on Labor Day.

2.  The top 100 players in the FedEx points standings have qualified for this weekend's event.  At the conclusion of this tournament, the top 70 will move on to compete at the BMW Championship in Illinois, starting less than 72 hours after the DBC closes.  Sergio Garcia and Bubba Watson are currently #71 and #72, so they'll bring a special self-imposed pressure on themselves in Norton.

3.  Heath Slocum's reward for beating (among others) Steve Stricker and Tiger Woods at Liberty National last week is to be paired with (ahem) Steve Stricker and Tiger Woods in the first two rounds at the DBC.  By winning last week, he rocketed up the FedEx points chart from #124 (barely qualifying for The Barclays) to #3.  He is assured of moving on to the BMW no matter how he does this weekend, and barring a total collapse, he'll also qualify for the Tour Championship later this month (at which only the top 30, after the BMW, will qualify).

4.  Following up on item 2 above, here are some significant names that are below the looming cut line; all of these will need a solid showing (though not a tournament win) this week in order to move on to the BMW:  Woody Austin (75), Vijay Singh (78), Justin Rose (80), Richard S. Johnson (85), Stephen Ames (87), and the last man to sneak into the tournament, Daniel Chopra (100).

5.  The weather forecast for Norton calls for a chance of some showers during Friday's first round, followed by sunny skies through Monday, so there's litle chance of weather-inspired schedule chaos, as we've seen on a few occasions this year.  TPC Boston isn't overly long (7,207, par 71), so unless it really comes down on Friday, the course conditions probably won't pose a problem.
