Some observations on the second round today of the British Open. These comments come courtesy of Steve Emmert, one of our beat writers:
-- Miguel Angel Jimenez shoots 73, nine strokes higher than he did yesterday. He is not some nervous kid whose score skyrocketed due to pressure.
-- J.B. Holmes, who shot 68 yesterday, puts up a 70 today, and moves UP seven places on the scoreboard.
-- Ben Curtis, who carded a 65 yesterday, can't get home today in fewer than 80 strokes, and will likely miss the cut.
So far, the wind hasn't really picked up; if it does, you'll see some ugly rounds. The Ryder Cup is my favorite tournament, but the Open is always a lot of fun to watch; this one will be no exception.
