Just a few things that caught my eye:

• Who went and woke up the bears? The Bruins toyed with the Canes the way a bear plays with a human it chased up a tree. The inevitable seems in sight... unless someone comes by with a pot of honey or a basket of blueberries. I'm not sure they have either right now in Raleigh.

• Ryan Getzlaf really is the guy Joe Thornton needs to be. I know I've said it before but that sequence in the second where he flattened a guy behind his own net, carried the puck all the way up and then ultimately scored on a crappy shot in the blue paint was flat out studly. Studly, I say.

• Do you think Patrice Bergeron is ever going to fulfill the potential he showed before the concussion?

• I love the fact we have so many Game 7s on tap. But those come at a price. Pretty soon, the mileage on those legs and lungs will catch up no matter how good the team is. You just can't hoist the Cup if you don't catch a break here and there.

• Go figure -- the Toronto Blue Jays are the best team in baseball. Had to toss that in there; I find it hard to believe, too.

• They're at it again in the center of the hockey universe. Rumor of the day has Toronto offering to "take" Ryan Malone and the number two overall pick off the financially-strapped Bolts in exchange for the seventh pick, a bucket of pucks and a season's supply of composite sticks. After serious consideration, the Bolts said they preferred Luke Schenn and Tomas Kaberle instead but the sticks were tempting. Neither scenario is remotely close but in the center of the hockey world, news is made when Brian Burke steps up to a urinal.

• A little fact that no-one seems to be mentioning in the whole move the 'Yotes to Southern Ontario scenario. Detroit will vehemently oppose any move than shifts a Western team not named the Red Wings into the Eastern loop. The Wings don't want to be in the West and frankly shouldn't be. So now what are the odds if the Leafs, Wings and Sabres all object. Ya, it was obvious to me, too.

• Nice game Chuck Kobasew. But you'll never be more than a streaky third-line player with a quick shot. I had hoped for so much more.

• Happy retirement Mats Sundin. Enjoy life with that hot wife of yours and all your Maple Leaf money. You're a smart, smart man -- you need to leave before your legacy is further tarnished. It was fantastic while it lasted. 

• If you ever thought for a second that NHL players don't care about winning then you need to check out Roberto Luongo's post-game comments last night. Trembling and fighting back tears, Louie simply said, "I let my teammates down tonight. It's something that's going to take a while to get over." He turned away before the tears spilled out. Nice to see some humility from a guy with such a big ego. 

• Tough night for Tuomo Ruutu -- he and Jussi Jokinen were the only Canes' players with minus-3 ratings.
