Just a few things that caught my eye:
- Alexander Edler joins Tom Poti in the own-goal hall-of-fame. Tough break for a guy with only two full seasons under his belt.
- Patrick Kane has some of the silkiest hands out there. He's going to make some woman very, very happy some day.
- Washington had business winning; none at all. Twenty-four shots including overtime?
- Speaking of 24, when is Jack Bauer's daughter going to start paying attention to real threats instead of perceived ones? Egad -- it's almost a redux of the cougar episode, no? Thank gawd for PVRs (or TIVOs stateside).
- Remember Jonathan Toews in the World Junior tourney three years ago? I sure do. Same great leader and same steely determination you saw tonight. He's so far ahead of Steve Yzerman at the same point in his career that it's sick.
- Maybe the Blackhawks should have followed the Prime Directive a little more closely. Any lesser-evolved society (or team) should be merely observed, not engaged. It only does harm. The Orcas will never be the same; bye-bye UFAs.
- Roberto Luongo is a mere mortal. I still love the guy but he couldn't pull this one out of the hat or the mask. Maybe it's too much hair product.
- Sidney Crosby was lights-out, particularly in the third. Alexander Ovechkin quite smartly adjusted to pressure by the Pens, picking up three helpers instead of goals. I'm damn glad this series is going seven. This is some of the most compelling hockey I've seen in a while.
- What exactly was Daniel Sedin thinking in those last couple minutes? He and dear twin Henrik Sedin just played their ways right out of super-lucrative free agent deals. I wouldn't touch them with the Ikea catalogue I keep in my bathroom. Come to think of it, isn't shopping in one of those horrid blue and yellow stores just like having these guys on your team? You have no idea where you are or how you can wake up from the bad dream you're in. You buy something just to get out. And when you get it home, the pieces never ever fit together the right way.
- When isn't a suspension a suspension? Right -- when the victim should have known better and defended himself. Don't even get me started.
- Crap piled on crap? Freak owners extend their puppet's contract in Tampa Bay. Exactly whose hand is up whose...?
