Too often the NFL gets ridiculous in its attempt to maintain order. The NFL fined Shaun Ellis $10,000 for throwing a snowball. Granted, it was a rather large snowball. More like a snowchunk. But $10K??
It's not like he was unprovoked. He and his Jets teammates were being pelted with snowballs as they ran off the field in Seattle. Fans can chuck snowballs but players can't? Yeah yeah, please spare me the distinction that players are held to a higher standard or whatever. It's stupid. No harm, no foul. Plus, you have to admire the calm way Ellis went about his work. He was like a hitman. His teammates scurried off the field, but Ellis slowly sauntered toward a snowbank, picked up a huge chunk and easily plopped it into the face of an obnoxious fan. I got a good kick out of it myself.
