I'm not sure I get this. Avery made a crass crack about other players dating his ex-girlfriends. Why does that merit an indefinite suspension?
That seems like garden variety locker room talk that probably never should have been said on TV, but really who cares? Unless you're dating a virgin, well, too bad, someone had been there before you - so you might as well get over it. When societies are too sensitive about that kind of thing, you wind up with Puritanism and eventually women in burkhas. Yes, it was a crude way to put it, but Avery just makes himself sound like an ass, and why should anyone else care? This is the kind of thing that should be settled man to man - with the offended player telling him to knock it off, that it's uncool, and if he didn't, then for Avery to be known as an idiot around the league. The remark only reflects on Avery, and the NHL is going way overboard in policing this kind of thing.
