Some random notes from Week 13:
-How did Jerricho Cotchery's fumble that was returned for a TD in the first quarter of Denver's win over the Jets get called a touchdown? He sure seemed to have control of the ball when lying on the ground and giving himself up for a tackle. If an NFL player has control of the ball and lays down to concede a tackle, is it a fumble when he gets hit hard and loses the ball? Isn't he instantly down? I think the refs blew that call.
-Benard Berrian's 99-yard touchdown reception brought the inevitable replays of Tony Dorsett's 99-yard touchdown run at the Metrodome. That highlight always bothers me as a Vikings fan because it gets so much play in a game that the Vikings Won - and it was a big win for playoff position at the time. But only one fluke play gets remembered.
-Speaking of the 99-yard play, it came after a goal-line stand. Has there been a bigger 5-play turnaround in NFL history? There previously had been nine 99-yard touchdowns, but I doubt any of them came after a goal-line stand.
-Adrian Peterson leads the league in rushing and his team is in first place. He has no passing game behind him and faces eight-man fronts on nearly every play. Yet, I don't think I've heard his name mentioned once in MVP talk. Maybe he doesn't deserve it, but he's got to be in the conversation.
