I woke up in Budapest, Hungary this morning and immediately checked the score from the game - 37-31? How was that even possible? Maybe Sammy Watkins went off after all? I watched the condensed version of the game online to catch up and took notes. Watkins saw only five targets in a game that hit 68 total points and had two catches for 20 yards.
• Matt Forte scored three TDs, but don't get too excited. He's still a bad goal line runner, barely getting in from one-yard out on his first score and jogging in from three and 12 on his last two. Forte is a finesse player. Of course, if the line opens up holes like that, and the Jets block well, he'll get to double-digits, but I'd expect some stuffs against tougher defenses.
• Speaking of which I started the Jets in the Stopa League, and after getting seven sacks against the Bengals, they got none against the Bills. (Actually they had two, but one was a two-yarder on which they took the 10-yard holding penalty instead, and the other was negated by a defensive hold.)
• Ryan Fitzpatrick was sharp, zipping the ball around to his three top receivers accurately and consistently with no reservations about attacking down the field.
• Quincy Enunwa is now firmly part of the Jets receiving tree with six targets, six more catches and 92 yards. Twenty-three of Fitzpatrick's 34 targets went to Eric Decker, Brandon Marshall or Enunwa.
• Marquise Goodwin got an easy TD walking through Revis Park. Goodwin is fast, but it's odd to see Revis beat so badly in back to back games.
• Bilal Powell had one carry and two targets. You can safely drop him as even if Matt Forte got hurt, he'd be unlikely to see heavy carry volume. No point in carrying a moderate upside backup with no present value.
• Why did Rex Ryan challenge a four-yard catch early in the first half? He also made a terrible play call on a 4th-and-1 in the fourth quarter, running the ball into the teeth of the Jets stout defense. He was right to go for it, of course, but call a play with a better chance of success.
• Why did Brandon Tate fair catch a punt down six at his 10-yard line with 10 seconds left in the game and no defenders within 10 yards of him? Returning that ball was their best chance to score.
• If Watkins isn't right - hard to tell from watching, besides him not getting many targets or making big plays - it's a wasteland in Buffalo. Goodwin and Greg Salas caught long TDs, but each had only five targets in an up-and-down-the-field game, and Charles Clay had seven dink and dunks.
• Tyrod Taylor looked good, throwing a nice deep ball to Goodwin, staying poised, moving well in the pocket while looking downfield and also scrambling or 25 yards. It's a shame Watkins might not be healthy this year.
• Odd the Jets were forced to retry a made PAT because of an offsides penalty. What if he misses it the second time? You lose a point because the other team had an infraction? That has to be a misinterpretation of that rule. Either that, or the referee erred in blowing the play dead.
