Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

There will be no shortage of action Wednesday with 10 games on the NBA schedule. Let's get right down to business and discuss some players to consider for your Yahoo entries, as well as a few to potentially avoid.

GUARDS

Kyle Lowry, TOR vs. DET ($36): It's going to be ugly for the Raptors with an outbreak of COVID-19 impacting the team. They will barely have enough players to take the floor for this game with Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby, Malachi Flynn and Patrick McCaw all ruled out. That should leave Lowry with all of the shot attempts that he can handle, making him an extremely appealing option. Just be sure to watch for updates leading up to tip off in case the game is postponed.

Dennis Schroder, LAL at SAC ($17): The Lakers just played Tuesday, losing the Suns by 10 points. Schroder wasn't efficient in the contest, but he still finished with 17 points, three rebounds, six assists and one block. Not only is Anthony Davis (calf) still out, but LeBron James is going to sit out this game for rest. That could leave Schroder to thrive against a Kings team that has the worst defensive rating in the league.

Guard to Avoid

Mike Conley Jr., UTA at PHI ($24): Conley hasn't been playing poorly considering he has scored at least 30.6 Yahoo points in four of five games since returning from injury. The problem is that he has a somewhat limited ceiling, topping 40 Yahoo points in a game only six times all season. The Sixers also have the fifth-best defensive rating, so this isn't exactly a favorable matchup. Don't be surprised if Schroder ends up with a better stat line than Conley, and at a significantly cheaper salary.

FORWARDS

Zion Williamson, NO vs. CHI ($40): There has been no stopping Williamson, who has scored at least 40 Yahoo points in nine of his last 10 games. During that stretch, he averaged 29.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists while shooting 64.4 percent from the field. The Bulls don't have much size up front and have played at the fourth-fastest pace in the league, which should afford Williamson with plenty of opportunities to continue his recent run of success.

Talen Horton-Tucker, LAL at SAC ($10): With the Lakers set to play shorthanded, Schroder isn't the only member of the team to consider. Horton-Tucker scored 16 points across 19 minutes Tuesday, marking his second straight game with at least 10 points. His contributions in other areas might leave a lot to be desired, but the potential for added playing time against a bad defensive team could make him worth a look in tournament play.

Forward to Avoid

Darius Bazley, OKC at DAL ($19): Bazley has been all over the map in terms of his production lately. Across his last 10 games, he scored at least 29.8 Yahoo points four times. However, he scored 19.5 Yahoo points or fewer five times during that stretch. Part of the problem is that he's only shooting 39.8 percent from the field for the season. On a night with so many viable options, taking a chance on Bazley having one of his better performances might not be necessary.

CENTERS

Karl-Anthony Towns, MIN vs. CHA ($45): The Timberwolves are short on scoring options right now with D'Angelo Russell (knee) and Malik Beasley (suspension) out. Enter Towns, who has averaged 24.2 points, 10.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.6 blocks across his last five games. The Hornets have allowed the seventh-most Yahoo points per game to opposing centers, leaving Towns with tremendous upside.

Chris Boucher, TOR vs. DET ($26): There's no question that Boucher has shown a lot of promise this season. The problem is, he doesn't always see consistent playing time. That shouldn't be a problem Wednesday with so many players out for the Raptors. Across four games in which Boucher has logged at least 30 minutes, he's averaged 20.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 blocks.

Center to Avoid

DeAndre Jordan, BKN at HOU ($19): This might seem like a great matchup for Jordan given that the Rockets have very little size up front. There is a possibility that he could take advantage of that, but there is also a chance that the Nets limit his playing time while deploying their own small lineups. Since Jordan's salary doesn't come at much of a discount, the risk that comes with adding him to your lineup might not be worth the potential reward.
