FanDuel NBA: Monday Value Plays

FanDuel NBA: Monday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

Point Guard:

Derrick Rose, CHI vs. SAC ($6,700): Rose just returned from injury last week and this is the sort of matchup he can thrive off of. The form isn't so bad either, as Rose has scored at least 24 fantasy points in seven-straight games. The matchup is what makes this so intriguing though, as the Kings play at incredibly fast pace and allow the most points in the NBA. An athletic player like Rose can abuse a defense like this and get to the basket at will.

Ray McCallum, MEM at PHX ($3,700): McCallum got his first start with the Grizzlies in the teams most recent game and it's clear FanDuel is slow to react to his increase in role. In his first start, McCallum scored 23 fantasy points while playing 35 minutes. What's even better is that backup point guard Briante Weber was cut and that should make McCallum the full-time point guard for the time being. With all the injuries in Memphis, McCallum should easily produce 7X value simply through usage and minutes alone. The icing on the cake is the matchup though, as the Suns allow the most fantasy points in the NBA to point guards for the season.

Shooting Guard:

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, DET vs. MIL ($5,600): Pope has been playing some absurd minutes recently and his production has been much better than his price would indicate. The shooting guard is playing some of the best ball of his career right now, as he has scored at least 20 fantasy points in nine-straight games, while scoring 25-plus in seven of those. What makes him so valuable are the minutes, as he is averaging nearly 40 minutes a game in that span. Not to mention, the Bucks rank 22nd in fantasy points allowed to shooting guards, making this a solid matchup as well.

Bradley Beal, WSH at ATL ($5,400): Beal has been in and out of the lineup with a pelvic injury, but he's become a nice value with his diminished price. The sharpshooter has been re-inserted into the starting lineup and is averaging 30 fantasy points across his last three games. That's nearly 6X value, which is a bargain, especially considering the type of upside a player like Beal has. Atlanta is a scary matchup, but Beal should be matched up with either Kyle Korver or Kent Bazemore and neither of those players are necessarily good defenders.

Small Forward:

Paul George, IND vs. PHI ($9,200): George is coming off a monster game and it's hard to pass up on him against the putrid Sixers defense. George has been on fire lately as well, as he has scored at least 44 fantasy points eight times in his last 13 games. In fact, he is averaging close to 50 fantasy points a game in that span. The matchup is what makes this impossible to pass up though, as the Sixers are one of the three-worst defenses in the league and rank 27th in fantasy points allowed to small forwards. No other player below $10,000 as a higher potential than George, especially in a matchup like this.

Doug McDermott, CHI vs. SAC ($4,000): The man known as McBuckets has been getting buckets lately and this is the sort of matchup that he can get even more buckets. McDermott has been scoring at will, as he is averaging over 20 points a game across his last four games. It's obvious that they need McDermott to lean on for offense, as the Bulls are extremely shorthanded right now. Sacramento allows small forwards to average 20.6 points per game as well, which ranks 26th in the NBA.

Power Forward:

Zach Randolph, MEM at PHX ($6,900): Randolph is coming off his first career triple-double and it's a good indicator of the type of player he'll be for the reminder of the season. Memphis is in need of a playmaker and it's clear they will allow Randolph to man the offense through the post. Randolph scored 54 fantasy points in that game and it came off a seven-game absence from a knee injury. That's a great sign for the final month of the season and it may make Z-Bo an elite fantasy option over the final few weeks. This is a great matchup as well, with the Suns ranking bottom-three in total defense.

Taj Gibson, CHI vs. SAC ($5,400): Let's continue our Bulls stack with their only healthy big man. With Pau Gasol and Joakim Noah expected to sit out here, Gibson should continue his good form and get plenty of minutes. Gibson had to leave a game against Washington last week, but aside from that, he is averaging 33 fantasy points and 31 minutes across his last three games. What makes him so good is his ability to rebound and provide defensive statistics. That seems even more likely in this matchup, against a team that ranks as the worst defense in the league and plays at the fastest pace. In fact, Sacramento ranks in the bottom-four in rebounds, blocks and steals allowed to power forwards for the season.

Center:

Tyson Chandler, PHX vs. MEM ($4,700): Many people overlook Chandler because the emergence of Alex Len, but the veteran has been putting up some solid lines recently. Chandler has at least nine rebounds in eight of his last nine games and has a double-double in five of those outings. That's good production for any center, but fantastic for a player under $5,000. This matchup is spectacular as well, with the Grizzlies playing an undersized Zach Randolph at center. In addition, Memphis has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to centers over their last 10 games.
