Rest-of-Season Projections
Let go by Houston
The Astros released Rosscup from his minor-league contract Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Rosscup made all but one of his 27 appearances this season at Triple-A Sugar Land, producing a 3.10 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 35:17 K:BB in 29 innings. The 34-year-old lefty should be able to find work in another organization, though he'll almost certainly have to settle for another minor-league deal.

Injuries were the main story of Rosscup's 2018 season. The southpaw was in contention for an Opening Day roster spot, but ended up beginning the season on the disabled list due to warts on his left middle finger. He didn't pitch in the majors during the first three months of the season, leading the Rockies to designate him for assignment. The Dodgers wound up taking a flier on him shortly before the All-Star break, and he made a couple appearances before hitting the DL with finger inflammation and a calf strain. When all was said and done, Rosscup produced a 4.76 ERA in 11.1 innings, though he did post a strong 20:4 K:BB in his limited action. He signed a one-year contract with the Mariners, a team with minimal bullpen talent, in an attempt to build up his market value with a healthy season. He has a career 29.7 K% and should open the year as the top lefty in Seattle's bullpen.
