ANALYSIS
The young backstop has an incredibly advanced approach and hit tool for a catcher in the lower levels of the minors. Fernandez could reasonably be considered a top-10 prospect in the Royals' system heading into 2016.

2016 Fantasy Outlook
An 11th-round pick in the 2013 draft, Fernandez should be on the radar of owners in deep dynasty leagues after a breakout 2015 campaign. The 20-year-old catcher slashed .327/.401/.491 with four home runs and a 23:14 K:BB in 159 at-bats across the Appalachian League and the Pioneer League. Rostering Fernandez will require extreme patience, as he has yet to make his full-season debut, but catchers with his hit tool and approach are a rare breed in the lower levels of the minor leagues. At 5-foot-11 and 197 pounds, speed won’t be a part of the equation, but he should continue to add power to his game as he matures. Look for Fernandez to spend the majority of 2016 with Low-A Lexington.
