2017 Fantasy Outlook
Hill, 20, was a 19th-round pick in 2014 out of Delaware Military Academy, where he attracted many scouts to view his five-tool potential. He's considered an exceptional athlete, having played football and basketball in addition to baseball in high school. As evidence of that athleticism, Hill was a catcher his first three years with the Seahawks but converted to outfield as a senior, a decision heavily influenced by the opinion of scouts. A hamstring injury limited him to four games the summer after being drafted and he was forced to repeat that level in 2015 before getting a taste of short-season Lowell in 2016. He broke out for the Spinners, leading the New York-Penn League in average (.332) while near the top in on-base percentage (.400) and slugging (.487). He's getting a little bit of prospect love this offseason, but we'd like to confirm that Hill's success wasn't merely a creation of an unsustainable BABIP (.388). He'll probably open the year at Low-A Greenville.
