Thomas, 24, came over to the Red Sox from the Cubs in an offseason deal for pitcher Robert Coello. He had never played above the Double-A level and isn't a full-time starter for Pawtucket, but has two grand slams early. The infielder is a second baseman by trade, but we can expect him to move around a bit for the PawSox. “Last year I played a little in the outfield and at third base,” he said. “The more positions you play, the higher your stock rises, so I’m happy to play anywhere. As long as you hit the ball, they’ll put you in.”
