2025 Projections
Heading to Japan
Hatch is expected to sign a contract with the Nippon-Ham Fighters of Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan, Yakyu Cosmopolitan reports.
ANALYSIS
Hatch had been on the Pirates' 40-man roster but evidently was allowed to pursue an opportunity overseas. The 29-year-old right-hander holds a career 4.96 ERA and 61:33 K:BB over 69 innings at the major-league level covering parts of four seasons.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2021
Hatch debuted for the Blue Jays in 2020 with a 2.73 ERA out of the bullpen, but he's struggled to get back in the big leagues over the past two seasons. The right-hander has been working as a starter at Triple-A Buffalo and had a 4.67 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 113:38 K:BB across 131 frames in 2022. The Blue Jays have openings at the back end of the rotation with Yusei Kikuchi coming off a poor season and Hyun Jin Ryu recovering from Tommy John surgery, but Hatch is likely a longshot to open 2023 as a starter for Toronto. However, a solid showing at Triple-A should be enough to earn him a look at some point during the season.

ANALYSIS
He may have a bright future, but Hatch has struggled to prevent runs at Triple-A, despite an impressive 25.3 percent strikeout rate and 6.5 percent walk rate. The other options would be a Ross Stripling or a bullpen game.
