Handed year-long suspension
Dyson was handed a year-long suspension Friday for violating the league's Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy, Jared Diamond of The Wall Street Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
The suspension stems from allegations by Dyson's ex-girlfriend which were made back in November of 2019. Dyson didn't pitch in 2020 while recovering from shoulder surgery and will now miss all of 2021 as well. He'll be heading into his age-34 season if he attempts a comeback in 2022.

While Dyson had some worried after a shaky spring -- which resulted in him losing out on the closer role to Hunter Strickland-- the right-hander returned to his old form in 2018, posting a 2.69 ERA across 70.1 innings. Dyson's strikeout, walk and home-run rates all rebounded closer to his career marks after he posted career-worst numbers in 2017 (5.60 K/9, 4.9 BB/9, 1.6 HR/9). He's now pitched at least 70 innings with a 2.70 ERA or lower in three of the past four seasons, with 2017 representing the outlier. While he wasn't able to hang onto the ninth-inning role after Strickland got hurt last season, allowing five runs in five appearances before ceding duties to Will Smith, he's expected to get another shot at the closing job in spring training. Smith seems like the favorite to emerge with the job, and Mark Melancon is probably ahead of Dyson on the totem pole as well.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
May take high price to be traded
The Giants may hang on to Dyson unless a trade offer is overwhelmingly favorable to them, Jim Bowden of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Giants have plenty of relievers available to deal, and even if they decide to hang tight in the suddenly crowded NL wild-card race, they could deal one of their bullpen arms to improve another area of the club. Dyson (2.74 ERA, 8.6 K/9, 1.2 BB/9 this year, along with 58 career saves) might even sneak into save chances if the Giants keep him and trade the coveted Will Smith. San Francisco's bullpen is a fantasy hotbed of saves speculation, but so many permutations exist about who'll stay and who'll go that strongly locking in on any candidate could leave prospectors empty-handed.
