2025 Projections
Will be a starter in camp
Angels general manager Perry Minasian said Monday that Bachman will be stretched out as a starter during spring training, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bachman was limited to just 16 starts and 61.2 innings -- all in the minors -- in 2024 after recovering from right shoulder surgery. He also accumulated only 43.1 frames in 2023 because of shoulder problems, and all 11 of his appearances in the majors came in relief. However, the Angels still want to develop the righty as a rotation option, with a shift to the bullpen down the line possible. Bachman is likely to begin the 2025 campaign back in the minors.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Bachman was the ninth pick of the 2021 MLB Draft, and while he hasn't shown much consistency as a professional in the minors, he did reach the majors in 2023 while posting a solid 3.18 ERA over 11 appearances in 17.1 innings. Unfortunately, his year came to an early end due to a shoulder issue, and he's expected to miss at least the first month of the 2024 campaign as well. When healthy, Bachman regularly gets his fastball up to 99 mph, but he relies on his slider heavily; throwing that offering 60 percent of the time in his MLB action. The 24-year-old could be a closer someday, and assuming good health, he could see save chances by the end of the 2024 campaign. At this point, however, fantasy managers should take a wait-and-see approach before using a draft pick or salary cap funds on Bachman.
