Garcia's story is one of perseverance. Signed by Cleveland at the age of 17, Garcia could not live up to expectations and every other big-league organization passed on signing him after his release in 2013. Garcia would continue to chase his dream, finding his way to Italy and ultimately catching the eye of a Cubs scout in an exhibition game with the Italian National Team. Garcia crushed in the minors in his return to affiliated ball and finally earned his first call-up at the age of 26. He found success more difficult to come by in his stint with the Cubs, leading to him being designated for assignment and bouncing around in 2020. Now with the Angels and reunited with manager Joe Maddon after being claimed off waivers from the Mets in February of 2021, Garcia will attempt to beat the odds once again and power his way to semi-regular at-bats.
