Nick Heath

A discerning eye at the plate and good speed earned Heath a spot on the Royals' 40-man roster last winter. He got the call to the majors shortly after the 2020 began, but he made just two starts before a left hamstring strain forced him to the IL. Heath was optioned upon activation, returning Sept. 12 to go 0-for-7 at the plate and 0-for-2 on the basepaths down the stretch. The walks were there in his small sample and Heath stole 60 bases in the minors in 2019 plate, but patience can only take a hitter so far. Without the ability to drive the ball in the strike zone, Heath will be easily overpowered at the major-league level. His strikeout rates close to 30% at the upper levels make it difficult to envision Heath emerging as a major-league regular at 27 years old.
