2025 Projections
Returns after multi-year absence
Denaburg (elbow) has given up four earned runs on four hits and seven walks while striking out seven over five innings across two starts with Single-A Fredericksburg since being activated from the 7-day injured list May 24.
ANALYSIS
A 2018 first-round pick, Denaburg is back pitching in games again for the first time since 2019 after he underwent shoulder surgery in the winter of 2019 and then had Tommy John surgery in the spring of 2021. Because of his extensive arm injuries, the 21-year-old's workload is expected to be monitored carefully this season.

2019 Fantasy Outlook
Denaburg combines an athletic, projectable 6-foot-4, 195-pound frame with one of the best fastball/curveball combinations from the 2018 draft class. Unfortunately, he missed time with biceps tendinitis before the draft and did not pitch in games after receiving an over-slot $3 million after the Nationals selected him with the 27th overall pick. He was able to touch the upper 90s with his fastball and could regularly break off plus curveballs prior to the biceps injury, but his stuff was not as sharp when he returned to action. Fortunately, he was able to pitch in instructs, where he showed good feel for a changeup that could develop into a third above-average pitch. Considering he has yet to pitch in a competitive setting as a pro, it's difficult to say with confidence what his range of outcomes are. However, if the 19-year-old righty's stuff rebounds to where it was in early 2018, he would have a significant ceiling.
