Avilan was traded from the White Sox to the Phillies in late August, but was non-tendered in November before inking a minor-league deal with the Mets. The veteran left-hander had a 3.77 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 51:18 K:BB across 45.1 big-league innings. The 29-year-old showed that he can still be effective against left-handed hitters (.646 OPS vs. .733 OPS vs. RHP). Avilan does have a 10.6 K/9 over the past few seasons and has been a solid lefty specialist in that time, so he could secure a role in spring training, but his impact in the fantasy realm is likely to remain limited.
